Skáldsagan Ben Húr eftir Lewis Wallace er ein af þessum eftirminnilegu epísku sögum um stórbrotin örlög og háleita drauma. Sagan kom fyrst út árið 1880 og varð strax gríðarlega vinsæl sem merkja má af því að hún var fyrsta bókin til að seljast meira í Bandaríkjunum en Kofi Tómasar frænda eftir Harriet Beecher Stowe sem kom út árið 1852. Má segja að þær vinsældir hafi haldist síðan því sagan var kvikmynduð árið 2016 og hlaut miklar og góðar viðtökur. Sagan sem heyrist hér er í frábærri þýðingu séra Sigurbjörns Einarssonar og kom fyrst út árið 1948. Kunnum við fjölskyldu hans þakkir fyrir að fá að lesa hana á Hlusta.is.
