The Count of Monte Cristo (Le Comte de Monte-Cristo) er sígild ævintýrasaga eftir franska rithöfundinn Alexandre Dumas. Sagan er þekktasta verk höfundar ásamt sögunum um skytturnar þrjár. Sögusviðið er Frakkland, Ítalía og eyjar í Miðjarðarhafinu á tímabilinu 1815–1839. Sagan hefst á sama tíma og Napóleon yfirgefur útlegð sína á eyjunni Elbu og snýr aftur til valda.
Söguhetjan, Edmond Dantès, er ranglega ásakaður um landráð, handtekinn og hnepptur í fangelsi á hrjóstrugri eyju, án réttarhalda. Með aðstoð samfanga síns kemst Dantès að því hverjir stóðu að baki þessu illvirki, og verður staðráðinn í því að komast burt úr fangelsinu og leita hefnda. Hér er á ferðinni stórfengleg saga um mátt vonarinnar, réttlæti, hefnd, miskunn og fyrirgefningu.
Sagan kom fyrst út á árunum 1844–1846. Sú enska þýðing sem hér er lesin kom út árið 1888 og er þýðandi ókunnur.
